FIR filed against Dhurandhar production designer Saini S Johray in sexual harassment case; accused granted bail later: Report

Saini S Johray, the production designer associated with the film Dhurandhar, has been booked by Chandigarh Police following allegations of sexual harassment made by a woman working on the project. Johray has reportedly secured bail in the matter and is yet to publicly address the allegations.As per India Today report, the FIR was registered at the Sector-17 police station in Chandigarh after the complainant, a resident of New Delhi, submitted a written complaint on April 20. Following a preliminary inquiry, police registered the case under Sections 74, 79, 123 and 126(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).According to the complaint, the woman alleged that Johray called her to a room at the Taj Chandigarh under the pretext of a professional discussion and later sexually harassed, assaulted and wrongfully confined her. She also alleged that an intoxicating substance had been mixed into her drink.

Woman says she joined the film as Assistant Art Director

In her statement, the complainant said she was studying at Government College when a faculty member forwarded her resume to the Dhurandhar team. She alleged that she was later hired as an Assistant Art Director on September 2, 2025.The woman claimed that Johray introduced himself as her mentor and said he was an alumnus of the Delhi College of Art, which helped build her trust in him.According to the complaint, Johray invited her to meet him at the hotel room in Chandigarh, allegedly saying it was related to work. She claimed she initially assumed it would involve other team members as well, but later realised she had been called alone.The complainant further alleged that Johray repeatedly warned her not to inform anyone about the meeting, saying it could negatively impact her professional image.

Allegations related to the hotel meeting

The woman stated that she reached the hotel around 8.30 pm on September 10, 2025. According to her complaint, Johray allegedly pressured her into consuming alcohol and prepared a drink containing wine and rum, insisting she finish it despite her hesitation.She claimed that shortly after consuming the drink, she began experiencing severe dizziness and repeatedly requested to leave the room, but alleged that she was stopped from doing so.The complainant also alleged that while offering to teach her bachata dance, Johray engaged in inappropriate physical contact and made unwelcome advances towards her.According to the FIR, the woman stated that her condition worsened over the next few minutes and that she vomited multiple times. She further alleged that despite her requests to go home, she was not allowed to leave the hotel room.The complaint also accused Johray of continuing the alleged inappropriate behaviour while she was in the bathroom and later forcing her onto a bed while pressuring her to stay overnight.The woman stated that she was frightened, physically weak and unable to resist. She alleged that she remained under severe distress throughout the night and left the hotel only the next morning using a bike taxi.

Investigation underway

The complainant has also accused Johray of later filing complaints against her, which she claimed added to her mental distress.Police investigation into the matter is currently underway.
