Emraan Hashmi opens up on ‘Awarapan 2’ delay: 'We were holding off a sequel'

Emraan Hashmi cleared the air on ‘Awarapan 2’ rumors, emphasizing it’s not about chasing old memories or easy money. In his latest interview, the actor noted the sequel was talked about for almost seven years before a solid script finally locked it in.

Emraan Hashmi on ‘Awarapan 2’

Talking to the Indian Express Screen, Emraan was questioned about the reason behind doing ‘Awarapan 2.’ He replied, “I’m not doing Awarapan 2 for nostalgia. This film has been planned for the past seven years. We just happened to stumble upon a script. We were holding off on a sequel, but when we read a script that was taking Shivam’s journey ahead, we got to it. It’s not cashing in.”He further noted that they have done that in the past, and a lot of people have been party to that. But they have to see that the audience now has become so smart and perceptive. Social media is such a tricky affair. Can’t be disingenuous with anything. Have a good script and heart in the right place, and make a good film.
