Eknath Shinde defends Salman Khan’s presence at RSS event

Eknath Shinde defends Salman Khan’s presence at RSS event: 'He has Lord Ganesha at his home... we shouldn’t politicise his attendance'

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has come out strongly in defence of Salman Khan after the Bollywood superstar’s recent attendance at the ‘100 Years of Sangh Journey: New Horizons’ event in Mumbai sparked criticism from some quarters. Shinde emphasised that Salman’s presence should not be dragged into political debate, saying his attendance was appropriate and cultural, not controversial.

Shinde says Salman’s attendance shouldn’t be politicised

Speaking to ANI, Shinde questioned the basis of the controversy, highlighting Salman Khan’s identity as an Indian citizen who respects the country’s traditions. “Salman Khan attending the RSS event or not attending it — what kind of question is this, and isn’t Salman Khan an Indian citizen? Salman Khan is an Indian citizen; he has Lord Ganesha at his home, does everything, respects our culture, and his family does too,” Shinde said.He added, “I don’t see anything wrong with Salman Khan attending the program of Mohan Bhagwat. It is appropriate, and since he is a Mumbai resident, we shouldn’t politicise his attendance at a Mumbai event.”

Mohan Bhagwat on Salman Khan’s influence

At the event, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat also spoke on Salman Khan’s influence on young people and popular culture. Highlighting how the star’s style resonates with students, Bhagwat said, “College students copy Salman Khan’s fashion. When asked why, they say they don’t know. Salman is doing it. The context of good values in society should become a fashion.”
