Malayalam actor Dulquer Salmaan was questioned by Customs officials as part of an ongoing investigation into an alleged luxury vehicle smuggling case. According to the latest reports, the actor and filmmaker has not yet requested the provisional release of the remaining vehicles.Earlier, Dulquer Salmaan appeared before the officials on July 1 and was questioned for nearly four hours. According to The Hindu report, Dulquer has not yet requested the provisional release of the remaining vehicles. They are also seeking more information about the luxury vehicles linked to the investigation. It is also suggested that the actor might be asked to produce the other high-end vehicles in his possession before the investigators.

Officials seek more details

It is also said officials questioned the ‘I’m Game’ actor about several luxury vehicles that are under investigation. He had earlier received provisional release for two of the four vehicles that were seized during the probe. The investigation is being carried out under Operation Numkoor, a nationwide probe into the alleged smuggling of high-end vehicles. According to Dulquer’s petition, one of the vehicles is a 2004 model Land Rover Defender. The petition says the vehicle had been legally cleared through a bill of entry for home consumption filed by the ICRC as the consignee.

Dulquer Salmaan raises concern over publicity

In his petition, Dulquer Salmaan also said that the media coverage of the seizure had affected his image. The petition stated, “Publicity was given in the media for vested reasons on the seizure, and the vehicle was portrayed as though it was among certain other vehicles being used for smuggling, carrying drugs, contraband, and anti-state activities. This has put the petitioner in a bad light, affecting his reputation.”Meanwhile, on the work front, Dulquer Salmaan is getting ready for the release of ‘I’m Game’, directed by Nahas Hidhayath.

What is Operation Numkoor?

Operation Numkoor is investigating the alleged smuggling of luxury vehicles from Bhutan. According to the investigation, some vehicles were reportedly purchased at low auction prices and later sold at much higher prices.
