Mohanlal is all set to return as Georgekutty in Drishyam 3, the much-awaited third installment of the blockbuster thriller franchise directed by Jeethu Joseph. The film has generated extraordinary excitement ahead of its theatrical release on May 21.
Advance booking trends indicate a sensational opening. Worldwide pre-sales have already crossed ₹21 crore gross and continue to rise rapidly. Kerala has emerged as the strongest domestic market, contributing around ₹5.50 crore gross in advance sales. Across India, bookings are nearing ₹9 crore gross.
The overseas response has also been exceptional. The Gulf region is leading the international market, while North America, the United Kingdom, and Australia are reporting strong ticket sales. If this momentum continues, global advance bookings could exceed ₹25 crore before the first show begins.
Trade analysts believe Drishyam 3 is on course to open with more than ₹35 crore gross worldwide, which would make it one of the biggest opening days in the history of Malayalam cinema.
Alongside Mohanlal, the film stars Meena, Ansiba Hassan, Esther Anil, Murali Gopy, Siddique, Asha Sharath, Santhi Mayadevi, and Veena Nandakumar.
The film is expected to continue Georgekutty’s gripping story as the past resurfaces and new threats emerge. Reports suggest the thriller may begin streaming on Amazon Prime Video in late June or early July after its theatrical run.
