Acclaimed Malayalam filmmaker Anil Radhakrishnan Menon revealed that he suffered a mild stroke. The ‘Sapthamashree Thaskaraha’ director also opened up on how it became a turning point in his perspective on health and self-care.

‘It happened completely unexpectedly without any warning’

Anil began his message by revealing how the incident took him by surprise, “Recently, I suffered a mild stroke. It happened completely unexpectedly — without any warning. However, surrounded by love and care, I’ve been recovering well.”He further added that his family and friends were more affected by the shock than he was but emphasized that the experience was “a strong eye-opener” to how casually many people treat their health.

‘We ignore stress, postpone rest, and convince ourselves we’re fine’

The filmmaker reflected on the everyday habits that often push people beyond their physical and mental limits. He wrote, “We push our bodies beyond their limits until it decides to give a serious warning. We ignore mental stress, postpone rest, and convince ourselves that we are fine.”He admitted that he too had ignored his body’s signals such as dizziness and headaches and attributing them to work or fatigue, before realizing the seriousness of these symptoms.

Anil Radhakrishnan Menon says rest is not laziness

In his note, Anil urged everyone to take regular health checkups seriously and to give importance to rest and mindfulness, “Don’t treat your health like a supporting character in your life story, it is the main character, and everything else follows it.”

“Rest is not laziness; it’s maintenance for your body. Drink water. Get enough sleep. Talk about what’s on your mind. Spend time with your loved ones.”He concluded with gratitude and hope, saying he plans to move forward “with more balance and calmness”, leaving readers with a gentle reminder. “Take care of yourselves — Life is precious.”Meanwhile, director Anil Radhakrishnan Menon’s previous directorial venture was ‘Diwanji Moola Grand Prix’ which was released in the year 2018.
