The screenplay weaves real historical events into its fictional framework like the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, the 2016 demonetisation and the Lyari gang wars in Karachi. The film has been shot across Thailand, Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh to recreate Karachi’s streets and Pakistan’s rugged border terrain. The ensemble cast features R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Rakesh Bedi and Sara Arjun. The film’s supporting cast features breakout performances by Udaybir Sandhu as Pinda, Gaurav Gera as Mohammed Aalam, Bimal Oberoi as Shirani, Danish Iqbal as Dawood Ibrahim, Danish Pandor as Uzair Baloch and Aditya Uppal as Omar Hamid. Yami Gautam too appears in a cameo appearance.’Dhurandhar 2′ faced a copyright infringement suit over the song ‘Oye Oye’ from Trimurti Films from their 1989 thriller ‘Tridev’. The Delhi High Court declined an injunction but ordered the producers to maintain detailed financial records throughout the theatrical run. ‘Dhurandhar 2’ remains banned in UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain. To maximise the theatrical window and sustain the twin record chases, the producers have deferred the OTT release of ‘Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge’ to mid-May 2026. The decision was communicated to the Delhi High Court during the Trimurti Films hearing and has been critical to the film’s ability to keep audiences in cinemas deep into its sixth week.DISCLAIMER: The box office numbers and data in this article are compiled from diverse public and industry sources.
