Deepshika recalls her infamous nude scene in SRK’s Koyla

'People said my kids won’t respect me': Deepshika Nagpal recalls her infamous nude scene in Shah Rukh Khan's Koyla

Actress Deepshika Nagpal revealed the clever technical trick behind her bold scene in Rakesh Roshan’s ‘Koyla’ with Shah Rukh Khan. She explained how she ensured her modesty while filming, using a swimming costume and strategic camera angles. Despite the on-set success, the scene later caused significant family distress and backlash.

Deepshika Nagpal recently opened up about her infamous bold scene in Rakesh Roshan’s Koyla starring Shah Rukh Khan and Madhuri Dixi and its impact on her family. She also spilled the beans on what happened behind the scenes.

The technical trick behind the shot

In conversation with Hindi Rush, Deepshikha shared, “So I asked Rakesh sir, ‘When are we going to shoot ‘that’ scene? He asked me, ‘You remember everything?’ I said, ‘Of course.’ So he told me about the scene, and my mom was sitting in the same room. That is what I respect about him, that he came, sat down, and explained everything to me.”Elaborating further, she added, “I told him, ‘Don’t worry,’ and then I explained to him exactly how we were going to shoot the scene. I told him to keep the camera at shoulder height so that my tube top isn’t visible. That height made it look like I was taking off my dress, but I was still fully clothed. I wore a swimming costume for the shot from behind, and it was done without any problem. I was still wearing my jeans, by the way, when everything was shot. He (Roshan) was surprised that the scene was completed that easily.”

Facing backlash after release

Sharing how her technical knowledge about filmmaking helped her pull off the scene, she said, “I know that I am wearing everything while shooting, but when you look at the scene, you just think, ‘Oh my god! looks like she is stripping.’ If I didn’t have the technical knowledge, I would never have been able to do it.”

Impact on her family

However, later on the scene went onto become controversial and much-talked about. “Tab toh hungama ho gaya tha (Back then people went crazy over it). ” My people told me, ‘Tumne yeh kya kiya hai? Kapde utare hai tumne screen par (What have you done? You removed your clothes in front of the screen.’ These were my own people, and I used to cry all the time. I remember that my daughter used to break the CD of Koyla. I used to wonder, ‘What did I do?’ It seemed that this is all I have done in my life, and people made it seem that my kids won’t respect me,” she concluded.
