Deepika’s take on cheating goes viral amidst Twinkle’s comment

Deepika Padukone's old comment on cheating goes viral amidst Twinkle Khanna, Kajol's take on physical infidelity: 'It's far more complex...'

Kajol and Twinkle Khanna have been in the news lately for their views on infidelity as expressed on their show ‘Two Much’. This particular episode saw Karan Johar and Janhvi Kapoor along with Twinkle and Kajol. During a game session where they have to pick a side, the question was if emotional cheating is worse than physical cheating. Kajol, Karan, and Twinkle all three agreed on it while Janhvi did not. The trio felt that physical cheating is still okay, but emotional cheating is not. Twinkle said, ‘raat gayi baat gayi’, as she meant that physical cheating can still be forgotten. They then told Janhvi Kapoor that she’ll also feel the same when she’s in her 40s and 50s, right now she’s just in her 20s. On the other hand, Janhvi maintained her stance and felt that physical cheating is equally worse.Netizens lauded Janhvi for her opinion while Twinkle, Kajol faced some backlash for their take. Meanwhile amidst this discussion online, Deepika Padukone’s old comment on cheating in relationships has gone viral. Deepika’s old video while she was promoting ‘Gehraaiyaan’ with Ananya Panday, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Dhairya Karwa has gone viral. In this particular video during a chat with Curly Tales, Deepika had said, “A lot of times people make the choices that they do for various reasons and I think that we’re conditioned to think that infidelity is sort of a sin. But for example, if you were to put yourself in the shoes of a therapist or a counsellor and you have to actually understand why that person did what they did…I think you start looking at it very differently. Now this is not to say that I’m okay with it or I’m not okay with it. I’m just saying that it’s far more complex than just saying that I’m okay with it or not. There’s just far too many factors that come into play when it comes to this.”Users reacted to Deepika’s video. Someone wrote, “I think celebs say cheating is complicated because their lives are so public and messy — constant travel, attention, pressure, and temptation. But honestly, it’s not that complicated. If you respect your partner, you don’t cheat. The fame just gives them more excuses.” Another person said, “How hard is it to say cheating is bad? It is not right. It should be a deal breaker, but for some, it is not. That’s it.”
