Deepika’s name REMOVED from ‘Kalki’ following exit?

Deepika Padukone's name REMOVED from 'Kalki 2898 AD' following exit? Fans express outrage - Details Inside

Fans of Deepika Padukone are expressing their outrage after noticing that the actress’s name has allegedly been removed from the end credits of ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ on a certain OTT platform. One fan tweeted a clip of the credit reel, writing, “Credits aren’t just names at the end of a movie. They’re acknowledgement, accountability, and respect for the work put in. When someone like Deepika Padukone, who’s played a pivotal role in shaping the emotional core of Kalki, isn’t credited even after months of OTT release.”

Deepika’s name missing from Kalki end credits?

What fans had to say

According to the fan tweets, the credit reel of the film has reportedly been altered post its release on OTT platforms on August 22, 2024. Another fan alleged, “@VyjayanthiFilms removed Deepika Padukone from end credits in Kalki PART 1 from the OTT platforms…” Others soon joined the debate, with one user pointing out, “It was already not there the first time they released on OTT,” while another added, “I watched it a couple of months back… It’s removed again now.”

Glitch or deliberate?

However, after a quick check, Kalki 2898 AD’s credit reels on both Netflix and Prime Video still appear to feature Deepika’s name, raising questions over whether the removal is a glitch or deliberate.

About Deepika’s exit from Kalki sequel

This new controversy comes weeks after reports confirmed Deepika’s exit from the upcoming ‘Kalki’ sequel. In early September, Vyjayanthi Movies announced in a social media post, “This is to officially announce that @deepikapadukone will not be a part of the upcoming sequel of #Kalki2898AD. After careful consideration, we have decided to part ways.”Director Nag Ashwin also took to Instagram around the same time, sharing a cryptic post that read, “You can’t change what happened, but you can choose what happens next.”Although the reason behind her exit from her film is not known, some allege it was because of her demands for a higher pay and fixed working hours.Deepika played the role of Sumati in the 2023 blockbuster, which also starred Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan.
