After months of keeping their daughter away from the public eye, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh finally introduced their baby girl, Dua, to the world on the occasion of Diwali. The couple, who welcomed their first child in September 2024, had earlier requested paparazzi to respect their daughter’s privacy — but this festive season, they decided to share a glimpse of their family joy.
A Diwali debut for baby Dua
The picture-perfect moment featured Deepika, Ranveer and Dua in coordinated traditional attire. Deepika and her little one twinned in red ethnic outfits, while Ranveer complemented them in a cream kurta and jacket. Dua, dressed adorably with two ponytails and a bright smile, instantly won hearts. In one image, she was seen playfully biting her fingers and pointing into the air as her parents watched on with affection. Another shot captured Deepika and Dua participating in Diwali puja, radiating warmth and serenity. The couple’s post was flooded with wishes from their friends and fans alike. Celebrities such as Rajkummar Rao, Rhea Kapoor, Neelam Kothari, Patralekhaa, Maheep Kapoor, Neha Dhupia, and Sanjay Kapoor dropped heart emojis and blessings in the comments. In November 2024, nearly two months after her birth, the couple revealed their daughter’s name — Dua, an Arabic word meaning “prayer.” Deepika and Ranveer shared that the name was inspired by their mutual love for poetry and music, symbolising gratitude and hope.
Motherhood: Deepika’s most cherished role
Embracing motherhood wholeheartedly, Deepika recently opened up to CNBC TV18 about how becoming a mother has changed her. “I’ve always been a patient person. My tolerance levels and patience levels are very high, but I think it teaches you patience. And it pushes you out of your comfort zone. It’s pushed me out of my comfort zone in so many ways,” she said. The actress also shared how motherhood has made her more outgoing than before. “It’s made me more social. I’ve never been a social person. Having to interact with other parents and now playschool… These words feel so funny suddenly. But I just think motherhood really pushes you out of your comfort zone, in a good way. At least for me, it’s been in a good way,” she added with a smile.Calling motherhood the “best role” of her life, Deepika reflected, “I’ve always wanted to be a mother. I wanted to be a mother from the time Anisha was born, so if I may say, I’m probably playing the best role of my life now and enjoying every bit of it.”
Keeping Dua’s world grounded
Deepika and Ranveer, who have often spoken about balancing fame and family, remain committed to giving their daughter a normal upbringing. “We want her to have the same normal childhood I had, where I wasn’t burdened by my parents’ fame,” Deepika had said earlier. With their Diwali post, the couple not only celebrated the festival of lights but also the new light in their lives — little Dua, whose first public appearance has already become one of Bollywood’s most heartwarming moments of the year.
