Ajay Devgn’s ‘De De Pyaar De 2’ is making significant waves in North America, surpassing USD 700,000 and poised to cross USD 1 million. The film’s strong overseas performance has already outshone Rashmika Mandanna’s ‘The Girlfriend’. Domestically, it has crossed Rs 44 crore, showcasing a steady run despite a Monday dip. This success positions Devgn strongly in the sequel market.

When it comes to the overseas market for Hindi Cinema it is usually dominated by Shah Rukh Khan but with the release of De De Pyaar De 2, Ajay Devgn is trying to create a foothold for himself especially in North America. It has been the biggest market for Hindi Cinema outside of India. De De Pyaar De 2 which is a sequel to the 2019 sleeper hit De De Pyaar De which spoke about romance between two characters belonging to different generations. As per reports coming in the film which also stars Rakul Preet Singh, R Madhavan Meezan Jafri and Jaaved Jaaferi had minted USD 665,000 ( Rs 5.88 crore) over the weekend. The film on Monday added another USD 49,000 and thereby breaking the USD 700,000 benchmark. The total collection of the film now stands at USD 717,000 ( Rs 6.34 crore). Going by the trend the film is all primed to cross the USD 1 million mark before it closes its theatrical window. In fact the performance of the film has been so good that it has already beaten Rashmika Mandanna’s The Girlfriend which released last week and till now has collected USD 681,000 ( Rs 6.02 crore). In India as well De De Pyaar De 2 has had a steady performance at the ticket window where it opened to Rs 8.75 crore collection on Friday and saw jumps on Saturday and Sunday to collect Rs 12.25 and Rs 13.75 crore respectively. On Monday though the film witnessed a sharp drop to collect Rs 4.25 crore but Tuesday the collection spiked as it earned Rs 4 crore. With that the film finally crossed the Rs 40 crore mark and its total collection now stands at Rs 44 crore. The year has been a mixed bag for sequels with films like War 2 and Son of Sardaar 2 not clicking with audience but Raid 2 and Housefull 5 were able to bring them to the theaters. Ajay now has a series of sequels lined up from Dhamaal to Drishyam to Golmaal.
