While in conversation with PEOPLE, Cherry and Thorne opened up about what the film is inherently about and what they are hoping the audience takes away from it. Citing that it is based on serious incidents, Cherry shared that it “shows the actual anger that the victims of r*pe and sexual assault feel — and rightfully so. They should feel those feelings.”Thorne on the other hand, quipped that she wants young men and boys to watch the film, and that she wants it to oppose the ideas of the manosphere. She shared, “I felt like we were starting to get somewhere with consent, and it feels like we’re getting rifted right back, and so, hopefully, this gives people an interesting view and for young boys to see it in this nature, and hopefully understand it a bit more.” She further quipped that the film heavily explores the grey area of consent and what it truly means. She also added that “I felt like we were starting to get somewhere with consent, and it feels like we’re getting rifted right back.”The duo further discussed the film in depth, and even shared how they had to film for a month and half in extremely cold weather; however, because of the theme of the film, all of the cast members had to act that it was really hot.
