Boney moves to Madras HC over Sridevi’s Chennai property

Boney Kapoor approaches Madras High Court, alleges three individuals illegally claiming Sridevi’s Chennai property: Report

Boney Kapoor has moved the Madras High Court, raising concerns over a property in Chennai that belonged to his late wife, actress Sridevi. Kapoor claims that three individuals are unlawfully trying to assert ownership. As reported by The Hindu, Kapoor claimed that three people are unlawfully trying to assert ownership of a Chennai property. He said that their claims are not valid and may involve “fraud.”

Boney Kapoor’s emotional tribute to Sridevi on her birthday melts hearts

Sridevi had purchased property through valid arrangement

The report further reveals, Boney Kapoor told the court that Sridevi bought the property on April 19, 1988, from M.C. Sambanda Mudaliar. Mudaliar had three sons and two daughters, and back in February 1960, the family had an agreement about how the property would be divided among them. Based on this arrangement, Sridevi completed the purchase, securing full ownership of the property.

Three individuals allegedly claiming property rights unlawfully

Recently, three people have claimed rights over this property. One is a woman who says she is the second wife of one of Mudaliar’s sons, and the other two are her sons. Kapoor argued that the second wife’s marriage on February 5, 1975, is invalid, because the first wife of Mudaliar’s son only passed away on June 24, 1999. This makes her claim legally questionable.

Boney questioned issuance of legal heirship certificate

Boney also raised concerns about the legal heirship certificate that was issued to these three individuals. He told the court that the revenue official had no proper jurisdiction to issue it and asked the court to revoke the certificate.

Court directed tahsildar to decide quickly

Hearing Kapoor’s plea, Justice N. Anand Venkatesh directed the Tambaram Taluk Tahsildar to make a decision within four weeks.

The Chennai property serves as family farmhouse retreat

The property is on East Coast Road (ECR) in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, and is used as a farmhouse retreat by the family.

Kapoor’s family continues actress Sridevi’s legacy

Boney Kapoor married Sridevi in June 1996, and the actress passed away in February 2018. They have two daughters, Janhvi and Khushi, who are also in the film industry. Go to Source
