Sonakshi Sinha has been the talk of the town lately for rumours of her pregnancy which kick-started as she has put on weight after her wedding with Zaheer Iqbal. But the couple hilariously slammed these pregnancy rumours and won the internet. As Sonakshi spoke about her upcoming movie ‘Jatadhara’ to ETimes, we discussed how the actress has never tried to fit into any mould. Even when she started out with ‘Dabangg’, she was different and over the years, Sonakshi has been extremely confident in her skin, thus, proving to be an inspiration to many women, promoting body positivity. When asked about it, Sonakshi said, “I don’t think it’s anything that I do on purpose, I just feel that’s inherently who I am. And I stopped fighting it, very early on in my life, because growing up, I was an overweight child. But I always did not focus on my looks. That was not the sole purpose of my life, to look good. I used to be so confident in all the other skills that I had. I used to be good at sports, I used to be good at my debate, speaking, elocution, all of that. So, I took a lot of… those things brought me a lot of confidence.”
She further added, “And then I entered… I happened to enter into a profession where it’s all about… mostly about looks, you know, and to fit in a certain mold. And by the time I came here, I was like, you know, to hell with it. Like, I’ve worked really hard to… to, get fit and to be a certain way. And if people don’t see that, and they can’t recognise that, and they just want to hate on me for stupid reasons, that’s their problem, it’s not mine. You know?” Did she really get hate though? “Ya, I used to get body shamed even after losing 30 kilos and, like, making my debut in ‘Dabangg’ looking like that. People were still body shaming me that time. So, I’m talking about those people.” Talking about the scrutiny around her weight right now, Sonakshi told us, “I really don’t want to pay attention to that. Even today, like, I’ve gotten married one and a half year back, I’m really enjoying myself. I’m like, literally… and it’s a proven study that women put on… couples put on weight in the first year of their marriage and that’s when you know it’s a happy one.” How does she not get bogged down by this scrutiny and being judged? “I stopped reading when I went… yeah, when I stopped… when I started, acting, I stopped reading articles, I stopped reading the papers, I stopped reading anything that, you know, could reach me, but then social media came up. And then it’s always in your face. So then you just have to kind of drown it out. You have to just ignore it,” said Sonakshi with a laugh. Go to Source
