Bahubali beats Sholay 3D to become the 7th biggest re-release film

SS Rajamouli’s ‘Bahubali- The Epic’ beats Ramesh Sippy’s 'Sholay 3D' to become the 7th biggest re-release film in India

Bahubali- The Epic is shattering re-release records in India, already securing the 7th spot by surpassing Sholay 3D. The combined film’s premiere and first two days have garnered over Rs 17.9 crore, outperforming Avatar and Rockstar. North America also sees a phenomenal run, marking a new benchmark for Indian re-releases.

During their respective releases both Baahubali films have set box office records now when both of them have been combined into one as Bahubali- The Epic the film is continuing to make records. The film with just its premiere and day 1 collection has become the 10th biggest re-release film in India replacing James Cameron’s Avatar. And now on Sunday, the film has jumped up to 7th position to displace Ramesh Sippy’s Sholay which completes 50 years to its original release this year.Sholay starred Dharmendra, Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini, Jaya Bhaduri, Sanjeev Kumar and Amjad Khan.SS Rajamouli’s Bahubali- The Epic headlined by Prabhas and Rana Daggubati earned Rs 1.15 crore from its premiere shows, on day 1 the film added Rs 9.65 crore to its tally, taking the total of the film to Rs 10.80 crore. On day 2 the film witnessed a small dip to collect just Rs 7.1 crore as per early estimates by Sacnilk, to take the 2 day total of the film to Rs 17.9 crore becoming the 7th biggest re-release film of Indian Cinema.In just one day, Bahubali- The Epic has jumped two spots that were held by Ranbir Kapoor’s Rockstar on 9th spot ( Rs 11.5 crore), Avinash Tiwary and Triptii Dimri’s Laila Manju on 8th spot ( Rs 11.6 crore). Going by the trend, Bahubali- The Epic is expected to have a stellar run at the box office on Sunday and it is expected to make a place for itself in the Top 5 of re-released films in India. Bahubali- The Epic which also stars Anushka Shetty and Tamannah Bhatia along with Ramya Krishnan, Nassar and Sathyaraj is witnessing a dream run in North America. In just 2 days the film has crossed the USD 600,000 mark and has set new benchmarks for re-released films in the circuit by becoming the highest grossing re-released Indian film of all times.
