Badshah’s song ‘Tateeree’ lands in trouble for objectionable lyrics

Badshah's song 'Tateeree' lands in trouble as Haryana State Commission for Women issues summons for alleged objectionable lyrics

Rapper and singer Badshah has landed in fresh controversy after the Haryana State Commission for Women (HSCW) issued a formal summons regarding alleged objectionable lyrics in his recently released Haryanvi song ‘Tateeree’. The track, which was released earlier this week, has sparked criticism from some quarters who claim its content is indecent and goes against cultural values and modesty. The commission has taken suo motu cognisance of the issue, expressing concern over the possible impact of such lyrics, particularly on women and younger listeners. The panel decided to step in after receiving multiple complaints about the song, reflecting rising public concern over the tone and messaging of certain contemporary music tracks. HSCW chairperson Renu Bhatia confirmed that proceedings have been initiated, stating that such content could potentially influence young audiences in a negative way.According to the official notice issued on March 6, the case names Badshah, whose real name is Aditya Pratik Singh Sisodia, as the primary respondent. The summons has been addressed to the Superintendent of Police in Panipat, directing authorities to ensure that all relevant parties appear at the hearing. The commission has scheduled the matter for March 13, 2026, at 11:30 am in the Conference Hall of the DC Office in Panipat, with Renu Bhatia set to preside over the proceedings. The complaints were submitted by Savita Arya, president of the Nari Tu Narayani Utthan Samiti in Panipat, and Shiv Kumar, director of the Shiv Aarti India Foundation. Both complainants have alleged that the lyrics of Tateeree contain objectionable language and sexualised references that objectify women and minors. They have urged the commission to take strict action and hold accountable those responsible for producing content that, in their view, crosses social and moral boundaries.Addressing the issue, Renu Bhatia also questioned how the song cleared regulatory scrutiny before release. Drawing on her experience as a former member of the Film Censor Board for three years, she raised concerns about how potentially offensive material could receive approval. “It is important to understand how such lyrics pass regulatory scrutiny, especially when they affect public morality and cultural sensitivity,” Renu said to ANI.Tateeree is a Haryanvi hip-hop single released on March 1, 2026, performed by Badshah along with vocalist Simran Jaglan. The lyrics were written by Badshah himself, while the music was composed and produced by Hiten. The song combines modern rap with regional musical influences, and its official music video was directed by filmmakers Mahi Sandhu and Joban Sandhu.
