Ayushmann: I’m a very producer friendly actor

Ayushmann Khurrana : I’m a very producer friendly actor

Ayushmann Khurrana’s riveting new release, Thamma, has surged past the Rs 100 crore milestone, a triumph he views as a heartwarming endorsement from the viewers. While the financial figures grab headlines, Ayushmann highlights that true achievement lies in artistic expression. He muses on his journey, recalling how some of his earlier works flourished thanks to enthusiastic word-of-mouth.

Ayushmann Khurrana is beaming with pride as his latest release Thamma storms past the Rs 100 crore mark at the box office. The actor, known for his unique choice of films and strong content-driven cinema, calls the film’s success a “validation” from the audience that means the most to him.Talking about it in an exclusive interview with ETimes he says, “It’s the biggest validation because if public loves you, that’s the biggest kind of love that you receive”.For the actor, box office numbers are only one part of the equation. True success, he believes, lies in creative fulfillment.“I think for me, success is having creative satisfaction and if that satisfaction is coupled with love from the audience, I think that’s cherry on the cake. I would love to have every kind of success” he stated. Thamma became the biggest opener for Ayushmann in his more than a decade long career, but there was a time when his films would open modestly and would then go on to become huge hits be it Andhadhan or Badhaai Ho . Talking about his journey he says, “It all depends on the film, its texture, its genre etc. In the beginning of my career, most of my films used to start slow and word of mouth used to prevail and suddenly they used to become monstrous hits. I was known for return on investment.”Adding more he states , “I’ve always been a producer friendly actor with every film of mine, big or small. Having said that,Thamma is the biggest film of my life. It was supposed to have that kind of festival vibe around, my first festival release and it became my biggest opener. So there were expectations for sure, part of the successful universe. But having said that, I would love to do every kind of film. I think content should be strong irrespective of the scale and size. For me Saraswati comes before Laxmi. I should be happy with the film, with my part and the concept as a whole, and people should enjoy it. And most importantly, it should be like a win for a producer.”Thamma has become Ayushmann’s fifth film to cross Rs 100 crore mark, thereby cementing his position in the industry.
