The pre-release event of ‘Idhayam Murali’ turned into a memorable evening as filmmaker Atlee shared heartfelt thoughts about the film, its director Aakash Baskaran, and his own journey in cinema. The romantic entertainer, starring Atharvaa, is all set to hit theatres on July 10 and has already created a strong buzz with its trailer. While wishing the entire team success, Atlee also reflected on a personal regret that has stayed with him ever since the release of his debut blockbuster ‘Raja Rani,’ making his speech one of the biggest highlights of the event.
Atlee opens up about his long-standing regret
During his speech, Atlee admitted that he had always wanted to return to the romance genre but never got the opportunity after his first film. “Wherever I go, people first talk about Raja Rani. After that, because of Thalapathy Vijay, I got the opportunity to make ‘Theri,’ ‘Mersal,’ and ‘Bigil.’ I am thankful for that, but I have always had one regret: I couldn’t make another love story,” he said. The director revealed that this feeling was one of the reasons he wanted to support Idhayam Murali. “I even told Aakash that I wanted to produce this film. Somehow that didn’t happen, but after watching the completed film, I loved it,” he added.
Aakash and Atlee’s emotional connection behind the film
Praising debut director Aakash Baskaran, Atlee described him as someone very close to his heart. “Aakash is like my own brother. I can never say no to him because he has helped me in many ways. He is young but extremely responsible,” he said. Atlee went on to reveal that the film draws heavily from Aakash’s own life. “This is almost Aakash’s biopic. Anyone who knows him will understand that after watching the film. If you see Fahadh Faasil’s character, just think of it as me,” he said with a smile. His comments sparked loud cheers from the audience and added to the excitement surrounding the film.
Atlee’s special praise for the cast and crew
Atlee also saved special appreciation for the young talent in ‘Idhayam Murali.’ Speaking about actress Kayadu Lohar, he said, “Kayadu, you are on another level. I really think you’re going to be a National Crush soon.” He also said that he is a big fan of Parithabangal Sudhakar and added, “I am one of the biggest fans of Sudhakar.”With Atlee’s ringing endorsement, the positive response to the trailer and the expectations built around Aakash Baskaran’s directorial debut, Idhayam Murali has become one of the most awaited feel-good entertainers of the season. The film features Atharvaa, Preity Mukundhan, Kayadu Lohar, Thaman S, Natty, Fahadh Faasil, and others. The film is now scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on July 10. Go to Source
