Arijit NOT making his comeback with Emraan Hashmi’s ‘Awarapan 2’, confirms his manager

Arijit Singh NOT making his comeback with Emraan Hashmi's 'Awarapan 2', confirms his manager: 'These are old commitments'

A new track from Emraan Hashmi’s ‘Awarapan 2’ has been released today and while it is being touted as Arijit Singh’s comeback to playback singing, it is not the truth. Despite the excitement surrounding Arijit Singh’s latest track ‘Yeh Awarapan’, his manager has clarified that the singer is not making a return to playback singing. The song is Singh’s first release in months after he announced his retirement from accepting new playback assignments earlier this year. However, his manager has denied this song being his comeback. “He is just completing the projects that were finalised before the retirement was announced. Arijit isn’t doing a comeback in playback singing. These are old commitments,” his manager told The Print. Composed by Amaal Malik with lyrics by Rashmi Virag, Yeh Awarapan is scheduled to release on July 21 across music streaming platforms. The track also marks a reunion between Singh and producer Vishesh Bhatt, whose banner Vishesh Films is backing Awarapan 2. Their previous collaboration was Pal from the 2018 film Jalebi. Over the years, Singh has delivered several memorable songs for Vishesh Films, including Tum Hi Ho from Aashiqui 2, Muskurane from CityLights, and the title tracks of Khamoshiyan and Hamari Adhuri Kahani.Directed by Nitin Kakkar and written by Bilal Siddiqui, Awarapan 2 is slated for a theatrical release on August 14. Besides Hashmi, the film features Disha Patani, Shabana Azmi, and Atul Kumar in key roles. Singh had announced his retirement from playback singing in January through an Instagram post, thanking listeners for their support over the years. In the note, he wrote, “Hello, Happy new year to all. I want to thank you all for giving me so much of love all these years as listeners. I am happy to announce that I am not gonna be taking any new assignments as a playback vocalist from now on. I am calling it off. It was a wonderful journey.”’Awarapan 2′ is set to release in theatres on August 14.
