Anupam REACTS to Naseeruddin’s ‘sycophantic nature’ remark

'Mask hadn’t come off yet, slowly...’: Anupam Kher FINALLY ADDRESSES Naseeruddin Shah's 'sycophantic nature' comment

Anupam Kher, a seasoned figure in the film industry, has shed light on the recent disagreement with Naseeruddin Shah, indicating that it stemmed from a reaction to personal attacks regarding his childhood. Despite his respect for Shah’s talent, Kher emphasized the importance of standing up for oneself when one’s pride is at stake.

Everyone is well aware of the war of words between Anupam Kher and Naseeruddin Shah, which happened after the latter made remarks about the former’s upbringing. Recently, the ‘Saaraansh’ actor addressed the situation between him and Shah. Kher expressed that it was just an action-reaction thing and nothing else.

Anupam Kher addresses his clash with Naseeruddin Shah

In an interview on YouTube Channel Zindagi with Richa, Anupam Kher opened up about the verbal tensions that took place between him and another veteran actor, Naseeruddin Shah. Talking about the same, he stated that “when it comes to Naseer Sahab,” he will always have huge respect for him. ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ stated that holding the other veteran in high regard is not a thing to boast about, as everyone else in the world has the same amount of respect towards the ‘Sarfarosh’ actor. He said, “I just responded to a video where he unnecessarily brought up my upbringing. My family and my education have raised me to be a calm person, but if someone hurts my pride, they have taught me to respond.”Anupam stated that one cannot keep everyone happy, and at times, people don’t change. He added, “They have always been like that; it’s just that the mask hadn’t come off yet. Slowly with time people start showing their reality.” The ‘BABY’ actor clarified that he is not talking about Naseerudin Shah or Mahesh Bhatt in particular, but in general.

Background of the situation

Back in 2020, Naseeruddin Shah defended Deepika Padukone’s JNU visit and called out Anupam Kher for supporting the government. He had said, “Someone like Anupam Kher has been very vocal. I don’t think he needs to be taken seriously. He’s a clown. Any number of his contemporaries from NSD and FTII can attest to his sycophantic nature. It’s in his blood; he can’t help it.”
