Anupam Kher opened up about his journey in the film industry and got candid about his struggles, highs and lows and even his friendship with Hollywood legend Robert De Niro. The veteran Hindi actor shared how the star did something for him that he never even did for his own family members.

Anupam Kher talks about his friendship with Robert De Niro

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Kher shared about the bond he shares with Hollywood icon Robert De Niro. The Hindi cinema veteran revealed that during his final year at drama school, he had submitted a paper on De Niro’s films—’Mean Streets’ (1973) and ‘Taxi Driver’ (1976).Anupam said, “I never thought I’d get to work with him!” He shared that in a scene in his Hollywood movie ‘Silver Linings Playbook’ (2012), he stood his ground over a discussion. He said, “Only a king like him could identify that.”He further stated that their friendship has grown over the years and that their bond has only deepened. The Bollywood actor revealed that De Niro is “shy, but he once sang ‘Happy Birthday’ for me. One of his family members told me, ‘He has never sung it for us!'”
