Amitabh Bachchan feels Lionel Messi’s ‘tears of emotion’ after Argentina loses FIFA World Cup

Amitabh Bachchan feels Lionel Messi's 'tears of emotion' after Argentina loses FIFA World Cup final, pens note for the football legend

Amitabh Bachchan spent a packed Sunday balancing his long-standing tradition of meeting fans outside his Mumbai home, Jalsa, with his passion for football. After greeting admirers during his weekly Sunday interaction, the veteran actor stayed up to watch the FIFA World Cup 2026 final, later sharing his thoughts on Argentina’s narrow 1-0 defeat to Spain through his personal blog.Having expressed his excitement for the title clash before kickoff, Bachchan reflected on the outcome in the early hours of Monday. As a devoted football fan, he wrote about the emotional nature of sporting triumphs and setbacks, particularly sympathising with Lionel Messi following Argentina’s loss.Sharing his thoughts, Bachchan wrote, “The game… over… Spain the Champions and Messi lost… tears of emotion… sad… but the day comes for every champion… as you turn the corner, you find there are others better than you… accept the love that came your way… rest in that glory.”The World Cup final remained deadlocked until extra time before substitute Ferran Torres scored in the 106th minute to hand Spain a 1-0 victory. The win ended Argentina’s reign as world champions, while Messi’s hopes of retaining the trophy came to a heartbreaking end. Later in the same blog, Bachchan shifted to a lighter moment, sharing a photograph of a dog that had been covered with raincoats to protect it from the monsoon before being brought to his weekly Sunday gathering. Amused by the sight, he praised the creativity behind the gesture, calling it a uniquely Indian example of innovation. His note read, “… and as for this Champion .. only in INDIA .. covered and protected from the Monsoon ..was brought to GOJ for the Sunday meet .. would never know what he was doing there .. Innovation thy name is BHARAT ..Love and now to bed .. it’s almost 5:30 am of the 20th Monday ..”Bachchan has been closely following the FIFA World Cup throughout the tournament, regularly documenting his observations on football, films and everyday life through his personal blog. The 83-year-old actor recently revealed that he had wrapped up work only at 4 am before finally heading to bed, highlighting his demanding schedule. Despite admitting that the workload leaves him exhausted, Bachchan continues to maintain his disciplined routine, balancing film shoots, television commitments, brand endorsements and his daily blog with remarkable consistency. On work front, Amitabh Bachchan is currently shooting for the sequel to his 2024 sci-fi blockbuster Kalki 2898 AD and the courtroom drama Section 84. He is also set to return as the host of Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 18, which premieres on August 10, 2026.
