Akshay-Twinkle’s sudden wedding left everyone SHOCKED

Akshay Kumar, Twinkle Khanna's sudden wedding left everyone shocked: 'Aamir Khan thought he was day dreaming when...'

Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna tied the knot in January 2001. Their wedding was quite sudden and came as a huge surprise for everyone. They had very few guests attending and one of them was Aamir Khan who came with his then wife Reena Dutta. It was attended just by 50 close friends and family members of the couple. They were supposed to get married on February 5, but they just suddenly decided they didn’t want to wait any longer. Akshay was quoted saying in an article by Bollywood Hungama, “It was literally a case of chat-mangni-pat-biyah for us. We decided not to wait any longer. We saw no need to. Tina (Twinkle) and I love each other and wanted to be man and wife as soon as possible. So, we decided to go ahead and take the plunge before she left for Bangalore the next morning.”

Shockingly, Akshay was shooting till late evening on the day of his wedding. He was shooting with Amitabh Bachchan and Rakhee and he went home, changed into his designer wedding outfit and went to get married. Akshay lauged, “Nobody was aware of our plans, not even us. Even (the late politician) Amar Singhji was informed at the eleventh hour. But he kindly consented to attend the ceremony.”One of the few industry people who attended the wedding was Aamir Khan who was a good friend of Twinkle. The actress said on the morning after her wedding that she got through Aamir on phone at 4pm. She laughed, “Aamir thought he was dreaming when I told him to come for the wedding the same evening.” Talking about the wedding and what changed after that, Twinkle said, “I don’t feel any different from what I did yesterday. I like the sound of ‘My Husband’ on my tongue. Otherwise, everything feels the same. But my husband says he feels like a completely new person.” The sudden wedding caused a lot of speculation and reacting to it, Akshay had said that time, “Why not suddenly? It had to take place today or tomorrow or the next day. So why not today? So, we had an elaborate engagement and a lowkey wedding. So what? We’ll have a lavish wedding reception. We decided to inform everyone about our plans in the evening. Now, I’m so happy that I went through with it. Marriages are made in heaven. But I feel being married is like being in heaven. We felt this was the right day, and it happened. We are going to invite all our friends for the reception.”
