Akshay Kumar's 'guru' and veteran actress-dancer Madhumati passes away

The film industry mourns the loss of veteran actress and dancer Madhumati at the age of 87, a figure celebrated for her outstanding performances and often likened to the legendary Helen. Known for her roles in classics like ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’ and ‘Chhoti Bahu’, her artistic legacy continues through her students.

Veteran actress and dancer Madhumati has passed away at the age of 87. The departed soul had contributed massively to the world of cinema. She often got compared with performers of her era like Helen.The actress worked in movies like ‘Ankhen’, ‘Tower House’, ‘Shikari’, ‘Mujhe Jeene Do’, ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’, ‘Chhoti Bahu’, and more.Akshay Kumar dropped a post as he grieved the passing of the veteran actress. He wrote, “My first and forever guru. Everything I know about dance, I learnt at your feet, Madhumati ji. Har ada, har expression mein aapki yaad hamesha saath rahegi. Om Shanti.”The actor posted an old picture of himself with the actress when he was training at her dance academy in Mumbai. He was part of the 1986 batch, and Chunky Panday was his classmate. Chunky Panday also shared a post on his Instagram Stories and wrote, “My teacher @madhumatideepak. Will miss you,” along with crying and broken heart emoji.

Actor Vindu Dara Singh mourned her demise and offered condolences to the family through a social media post. Taking to his X account, he wrote, “Rest in peace, our teacher and guide #Madhumati ji. A beautiful life led, filled with love and blessings from so many of us who learnt dancing from this legend.”

Born in Maharashtra in 1938, Madhumati started her job as a performer in the year 1957. She featured in an unreleased Marathi movie as a dancer. As she was passionate about the same, she had trained herself in Bharatnatyam, Kathak, Manipuri, and Kathakali. The late actress also performed in film dance.She went on to marry Deepak Manohar, who was also a dancer, at the age of 19. However, her husband was much older than her and had four kids from his first wife, who had passed away.Reportedly, Madhumati married Deepak by going after her mother’s wishes.Madhumati’s demise has left the industry mourning.
