Aditya Dhar ‘Not done with Dhurandhar’; announces year-end surprise

Aditya Dhar 'not done with 'Dhurandhar' yet'; surprise year-end announcement teased amid buzz about next with Ranveer Singh

After the back-to-back successes of ‘Dhurandhar’ and ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ at the box office, much has been speculated about director Aditya Dhar’s next. Rumours have been rife that the director, who is currently on a break, will pick up where he left off and resume work on some of his passion projects, including a rumoured film with Ranveer Singh. Now, as per the latest buzz, fans of the ‘Dhurandhar’ may have a lot more to celebrate as the makers teased a ‘surprise’ year-end announcement.Headlined by Ranveer Singh, ‘Dhurandhar’ emerged as one of the biggest cinematic success stories at the Indian box office. In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Jyoti Deshpande of Jio Studios confirmed that the franchise still has more in store. “We’re not done with Dhurandhar yet. We’ll hopefully have a surprise for the audience later this year. There’s something up our sleeves,” she said. The tease has already sparked speculation among fans about a possible sequel, spin-off or expansion of the ‘Dhurandhar’ universe.Speaking about the making of the film and Dhar’s journey during production, Deshpande added, “It is special because the adversity in which we did this film, brought us closer than ever.” She also gave fans a glimpse into the filmmaker’s life off the film sets following the box office success. She said, “Right now, Aditya is spending time with his son. He couldn’t spend too much time (with him) so I think he is with cows and things like that. He’s in bliss right now, but I know his mind is ticking.”Over the past weeks, rumours have been rife that Dhar is evaluating three potential large-scale projects, including a Chandragupta Maurya historical epic with Ranveer Singh, the long-awaited The Immortal Ashwatthama, and a high-stakes sports drama. However, there has been no word on a new ‘Dhurandhar’ film after the two-part spy film franchise collectively crossed the Rs 3,000 crore mark at the box office.
