95 kg to 65 kg: Here’s how Sonakshi Sinha lost 30 kg for her Bollywood debut ‘Dabangg’ opposite Salman Khan

Sonakshi Sinha made her big Bollywood debut in the film ‘Dabangg’ opposite Salman Khan. The film went on to become a massive hit, and her acting was equally praised. But did you know before bagging the iconic role, she had to undergo a major physical transformation? At one point, Sonakshi weighed around 95 kg. Determined to enter Bollywood with confidence, she shed nearly 30 kg before facing the camera.

Sonakshi Sinha’s morning workouts kept her focused

In a 2018 conversation with Vogue India, Sonakshi opened up about her health and fitness routine that helped her achieve her goal before stepping into the world of films. Sonakshi’s mornings always began with exercise. She followed a routine that mixed cardio and brisk walking to keep her energy levels high.

Sinha revealed, “I started doing Pilates about six months back and it’s really suited me. There are thousands of exercises that you can do on those machines so it’s never boring; you can do something new every day… I love working out on the Pilates reformer. There are so many variations of exercises you can do on that.”

Sonakshi Sinha’s healthy diet focused on balance

Along with workouts, Sonakshi Sinha was careful with what she ate. She made sure to keep her meals simple and nutritious. Her diet mainly focused on proteins, with fewer carbs and light dinners. She shared, “Fried foods, sugar are avoidable. Luckily, I don’t have much of a sweet tooth… almonds, walnuts or bananas are my go-to snacks if I get hungry between meals.”

Sonakshi Sinha faced body-shaming

Even after her impressive transformation, Sonakshi Sinhahad to deal with constant body-shaming and criticism. But she refused to let the negativity define her.In a 2019 chat with Arbaaz Khan on his show Pinch by Arbaaz Khan, she gave a strong reply to her trolls. She said, “When I did Dabangg, you had seen me before that also and I was very very big, I was unhealthy. I was unfit and I lost 30 kgs to do your film and still people found words to say about me, about my shape, about how I looked. Earlier, I used to go in the defensive space. I had put in so much effort, I have reduced so much, they have not seen the half of it. They have not seen the effort that has gone in, they have not seen the blood, sweat and tears that have gone in.”

Sonakshi Sinha on the work front

On the work front, Sonakshi Sinha was last seen in ‘Nikita Roy’. She will soon be seen in the much-awaited Telugu film ‘Jatadhara’, which is set to release on November 7. Go to Source
