The National Film Awards celebrate creators across the Indian film industry, and the 71st National Film Awards ceremony is happening today (23 September 2025) at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. It’s a major event to celebrate the best works of Indian cinema. At this ceremony, President Droupadi Murmu is presenting the awards for the winners of the 71st National Film Awards.
This year, the film ’12th Fail’ has been selected as the Best Film. Vikrant Masay, who played the role in this film, won the best actor award. Similarly, Shah Rukh Khan bagged his first-ever National Award for his role in Atlee’s directorial ‘Jawan’. Malayalam actor Mohanlal has been awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the highest honour in Indian cinema. He has played over 350 roles in cinema since 1978.
‘Bhagavanth Kesari’ featuring Nandamuri Balakrishna bagged the Best Film award in the Best Regional Film (Telugu) category. Representing Tamil cinema, the film ‘Parking’ was selected as the Best Tamil Film. M.S. Bhaskar, who acted in this film, won the Best Supporting Actor award. Similarly, G.V. Prakash Kumar, who composed music for the film ‘Vaathi’, received the Best Music Composer award.
