9 killed, many injured as building collapses at North Chennai Thermal Power Station

An under-construction building at North Chennai Thermal Power Station collapsed on Tuesday, leaving several people dead and others injured, officials said.

An under-construction building collapsed in Chennai on Tuesday, leaving several people dead and others injured, officials said.

“A tragic accident occurred at the North Chennai Thermal Power Station construction site today. Preliminary reports indicate that one worker was critically injured, while more than 10 others were seriously hurt. The victims were rushed to Stanley Government Hospital. The exact cause of the collapse is still under investigation. Rescue operations are ongoing,” said the Avadi Police Commissionerate.

According to a report from Thanthi TV, some of the victims who were taken to Stanley Hospital succumbed to their injuries, while others remain in critical condition.
