UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer will visit India on October 8–9 for his first official trip. He will join PM Modi at the Global Fintech Fest and hold bilateral talks to strengthen ties.
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer will visit India next week for an international finance conference. According to India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Starmer will be in India on October 8–9, marking his first official visit to the country. He will join PM Narendra Modi at the Global Fintech Fest in Mumbai and deliver keynote addresses.
“The visit will build on the momentum and substance generated by the visit of Prime Minister Modi to the UK on 23–24 July 2025. It will provide a valuable opportunity to reaffirm the shared vision of India and the United Kingdom to build a forward-looking partnership,” the MEA said.
The ministry added that Starmer’s visit is expected to strengthen ties between the two countries in trade, technology, defence, and security, especially amid global uncertainties caused by US policies.
The visit follows Modi’s trip to Britain in July, when the two leaders signed a free trade agreement (FTA) that is being ratified and set to take effect next year. Starmer and Modi are also expected to hold bilateral talks in Mumbai during the Fintech Fest.
