‘Judging by your track record…’: Greta Thunberg responds to Trump’s ‘anger issues’ remark

Climate activist Greta Thunberg has hit back at US President Donald Trump after he claimed she has “anger issues,” suggesting he may be the one struggling with them instead

Climate activist Greta Thunberg has hit back at US President Donald Trump after he claimed she has “anger issues,” suggesting he may be the one struggling with them instead

“I hear Donald Trump has once again expressed his flattering opinions on my character, and I appreciate his concern for my mental health,” the 22-year-old Swedish activist wrote in an Instagram post on Tuesday morning.

“I would kindly receive any recommendations you might have to deal with these so-called ‘anger management problems,’ since — judging by your impressive track record — you seem to be suffering from them too,” she added.

President Trump called Thunberg “angry” and a “troublemaker” following her detention and subsequent deportation by Israeli authorities, reigniting a long-running feud between the two public figures that dates back to her early days in the global climate movement.

Thunberg had been part of a 42-boat flotilla —known as the Global Sumud Flotilla —attempting to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza before being intercepted by Israeli forces.

“She’s just a troublemaker. .. She’s no longer into the environment now. She has an anger management problem. I think she should see a doctor,” Trump had told reporters. “Have you ever watched her? She’s a young person. She’s so angry, she’s so crazy.”

This isn’t the first time President Trump and Thunberg have exchanged barbs.

In June, Trump labeled Thunberg “strange” and “angry” following her first attempt to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza, prompting her to respond that the world needs “more angry women.”

Their feud dates back to Trump’s first term, when he mocked the then-16-year-old Thunberg by sarcastically calling her a “very happy young girl” after her impassioned speech on climate change at the United Nations.

Thunberg rose to prominence in 2018 after launching the “Fridays for Future” school strike movement. More recently, she has broadened her activism to include humanitarian causes, particularly in Gaza.

On Monday, Thunberg arrived in Greece after being deported from Israel.

She and other 160 campaigners from the flotilla were greeted with cheers upon arrival. Israel’s foreign ministry later confirmed it had expelled a total of 171 activists from the aid mission on Monday.
