Japan pushes for fresh IEA oil release as Strait of Hormuz remains shut

Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi urged the IEA to prepare for an additional coordinated release of global oil stockpiles. The IEA had earlier announced on March 11 that member countries would release 400 million barrels of oil from their reserves to reduce the impact of the conflict.
