Two US Navy personnel sustained injuries after a fire broke out on their ship off Japan, and it took 12 hours of firefighting to douse the blaze, the American military said on Thursday.
The fire erupted on the USS New Orleans in the southern island of Okinawa on Wednesday, the US 7th Fleet said in a statement, adding that local vessels spent most of the night bringing the fire under control, AFP reported.

“The cause of the fire is currently under investigation… New Orleans’ crew will remain aboard the ship,” the statement said.
