The UK government is planning to keep Donald Trump away from “sensitive places”, such as central London, and “sensitive topics” like “immigration and free speech” as the US President arrives on Tuesday for a historic second state visit.

According to the Guardian, embattled UK PM Keir Starmer, facing discontent from his own partymen, is “hoping to wow” Trump with a show of royal and military pageantry.

Donald Trump and US First Lady Melania Trump will arrive in the UK aboard the Air Force One and will be received by foreign secretary, Yvette Cooper, along with Warren Stephens, the US ambassador to the UK, and Viscount Hood, the king’s lord-in-waiting and will move to Windsor Castle post-landing.

The Guardian report said that Trump will not spend time in London, their report said and highlighted that protesters are planning to greet his arrival at Windsor.

On Wednesday, Trump and Melania will be formally greeted at Windsor by a royal salute fired simultaneously from the east lawn of Windsor Castle and the Tower of London. They will then meet King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince William and Princess Catherine in the Windsor estate, reaching there via carriage.

He will receive a guard of honour and have lunch in the state dining room, after which the royals will take the Trumps on a tour of the royal collection. The US President and the First Lady will also visit St George’s Chapel to lay a wreath on the tomb of Queen Elizabeth II.

UK PM Starmer will hope that the visit will lead to announcement of investments. Trump and Starmer will meet at an official event on Wednesday where they will watch the beating the retreat military ceremony, where if weather permits the US President will be given a flypast by the Red Arrows alongside British and American F-35 jets.

This will be followed by the biggest event in the state visit which is the traditional white-tie banquet in Windsor Castle at which the king and Trump will give speeches.

On Thursday, Trump will travel to Chequers for a meeting with Prime Minister Keir Starmer. The leaders will tour the Winston Churchill archives before sitting down for bilateral talks and a joint press conference. Business leaders from GSK, Microsoft and Rolls-Royce are also expected at a reception where new investment deals are likely to be announced, covering energy, AI and advanced computing.

Google parent Alphabet has announced a £5 billion ($6.8 billion) investment in the UK’s artificial intelligence sector, making it one of the largest commitments by a US tech firm in recent years.

The funding, to be deployed over the next two years, will support infrastructure and advanced scientific research. It comes as part of a wave of major US investment announcements timed with President Donald Trump’s state visit to Britain.

Free Speech, Gaza And Ukraine

British officials told the newspaper that they are uneasy over the possibility that Donald Trump may raise the sensitive subjects of migration and the rise of Reform UK during his state visit. Concerns have sharpened after last weekend’s far-right rally, which drew an estimated 110,000 people in London.

Starmer is preparing to use Donald Trump’s state visit to nudge the US president back towards a harder line on Russia. European leaders have privately urged Trump to recognise that Vladimir Putin is not serious about peace talks, a message Downing Street hopes to reinforce during the trip.

At the same time, Britain is bracing for friction with Washington over Palestine. London is expected to join France and other European nations in supporting recognition of Palestinian statehood at the UN General Assembly later this month, a move Trump has condemned as “rewarding Hamas”.

Starmer’s team is aiming to keep the focus on Ukraine and prevent the Palestinian question from overshadowing the visit, the newspaper said.
