Tensions flared for the second day in a row outside Nepali Army headquarters in Bhadrakali as Gen Z protesters appeared to be split between the choice of the interim leader. On Thursday afternoon, factions backing former Chief Justice Sushila Karki and Kathmandu Mayor Balen Shah engaged in a heated scuffle outside the Army headquarters over who should lead the interim government.

The same set of people also argued and debated over the choice of who would lead the transitional government after grievances against corruption, nepotism and unemployment spilled over into deadly protests following a ban on social media on Tuesday evening following which the Army officials had asked them to come with a clear choice the next morning.
