Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Thursday rejected proposals for security guarantees to Ukraine, saying they “follow the logic of isolating Russia, the logic of uniting the Western world and Ukraine.” Lavrov added, “In their minds, the goal is to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia.”
He said any presence of European troops in Ukraine would be “absolutely unacceptable”, as Kyiv’s allies worked on security guarantees for the country.
