At least 802 people have lost their lives and 1,088 others sustained injuries in rain-related incidents across Pakistan since June 26, according to the latest data from the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).

The ongoing monsoon deluge has unleashed devastation across multiple provinces, washing away homes, displacing thousands of families, and putting emergency services under immense strain.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has suffered the heaviest losses, with 479 fatalities and 347 injured, followed by Punjab where 165 people were killed and 584 injured.

Sindh reported 57 deaths and 75 injuries, while Balochistan recorded 24 deaths and five injuries, local media reported.

In Pakistan-occupied Gilgit-Baltistan, 45 people were either killed or wounded, while Pakistan-occupied Kashmir saw 24 deaths and 29 injuries.

The federal capital Islamabad reported eight deaths and three injuries in separate incidents.

Rising water levels in Punjab’s rivers have intensified the crisis.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Tuesday confirmed that the Ravi River at Jassar had touched a high flood level.

A day earlier, the agency had also warned of swelling water levels in both the Ravi and Chenab rivers.

The NDMA separately issued an alert cautioning of possible urban flooding in low-lying areas of Punjab, including Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Kasur, and adjoining districts over the next 24 hours.

Residents were urged to stay indoors, avoid unnecessary travel, and keep away from rivers and streams while monitoring official advisories through media and the NDMA’s disaster alert app.

Officials further warned that torrential rains coupled with strong winds and lightning could damage fragile structures such as mud houses, electric poles, billboards, solar panels, and parked vehicles.

According to the PMD, powerful monsoon currents from the Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea are continuing to batter northeastern Punjab and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

In the past 24 hours alone, Sialkot recorded 228 mm of rainfall in the city and 97 mm at the airport, while Narowal received 107 mm. Lahore city and its airport saw 61 mm and 39 mm of rain, respectively.

The Lahore district administration has already sounded a high alert, warning that water levels in the Ravi River are expected to surge further within the next 48 hours.
