Former US President Joe Biden was recently seen with a huge scar on his forehead. His frail appearance raised concerns and speculations about his health. Biden was filmed while leaving a church in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.

The footage showing a significant gash on Biden’s forehead was shared by a local resident. Seeing the buzz around the video, Biden’s spokesperson shared the reason behind the scar and told that former US President recently underwent Mohs surgery, a procedure used to remove skin cancer lesions.

However, the spokesperson didn’t share when the procedure was conducted, but amid the buzz around Biden’s scar video, he gave an explanation. Check the video here.

Mohs surgery is a procedure in which thin layers of skin are removed and examined under a microscope until the doctor sees no signs of skin cancer cells. It’s typically used to treat cancerous lesions that have returned after previous treatment, are fast-growing, or are in important areas like the face, hands or genitals.

82-year-old Joe Biden was diagnosed with prostate cancer a few months ago. In 2023, Biden had a lesion removed from his chest, which later tested positive for basal cell carcinoma.

In May 2025, Biden’s office announced that he had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer that had spread to his bones.

“Cancer touches us all,” Biden wrote on social media at the time. “Like so many of you, Jill and I have learned that we are strongest in the broken places.”
