The situation in Nepal has turned worrisome as incidents of violence, arson, and unrest continue to unfold. Videos of destruction from across the country highlight the tense atmosphere. Among those affected are a large number of Indian students studying in Nepal, many of whom are confined to their campuses as the situation outside remains unsafe.

News18 spoke to Binita Manna, a second-year MBBS student at Birat Medical College, Biratnagar. She is currently safe inside the campus but deeply anxious about the violence unfolding outside. On Monday, a shopping mall was set on fire, and a jailbreak incident shook the region.

“Inside the campus, we are safe, but outside it’s not safe at all. A lot of problems are there — we can’t even think of going out,” Binita said.

According to her, hooligans are taking advantage of the unrest, leading to incidents of arson and looting. A shopping mall just 10–15 minutes from the campus was torched, heightening fears among students.

“Though the college authorities have assured us they will protect us, the situation is not good. We are very afraid,” she added.

Binita said her 2nd-year MBBS exams have been postponed indefinitely, and she is struggling to stay in touch with her family due to poor mobile networks.

“Yes, I’m in touch with my family, but the network is not working properly. My family is extremely worried, and so am I,” she said.

Her only wish now is to return to India.

“I want to go home right now. I don’t know how, but I want to go back,” she said, her voice filled with fear.
