Google confirmed the service issues in its Workflow Status update, stating that “affected customers are experiencing slow user interface loads and are unable to join Meet sessions.” The problems appeared to be primarily concentrated on the platform’s core functionality, video conferencing.
According to Downdetector’s breakdown, 79% of users experienced issues while starting a conference, 16% faced server connection problems, and the remaining 5% had trouble connecting via the app itself.
The issue was resolved later in the afternoon. By 3:48 pm ET, reports of problems had dropped significantly, with only around 180 ongoing complaints. Google later confirmed that the disruption was caused by a “recent change in content edge cache.” The company rolled back the update, which successfully restored normal service.
