Amid tensions between India and the US over the hike in H-1B work visa fees, German Ambassador to India has issued a statement welcoming Indians to the nations.

In a post on X, Ambassador Philipp Ackermann said: “Germany stands out with its stable migration policies and offers great job opportunities for Indians in IT, management, science, and technology.”

Along with a video, he also shared a link that directs users to a page highlighting various job opportunities in Germany.

In the video, he said: “Indians are among the top earners in Germany. The average Indian working in Germany earns more than the average German in the country. That’s a good news. Because high salary means that Indians are contributing big time to our society and our welfare. We believe in hard work and we believe in giving the best jobs to best people. Our migration policy works a bit like a German car: It’s reliable, modern and predictable. It will go in a straight line with no zig zags. And you don’t have to fear a full break at a top speed. We do not change our rules fundamentally overnight. Highly skilled Indians are welcome in Germany.”

This comes days after the White House announced a new $100,000 fee for such visas that include “case-by-case exemptions if in the national interest.”

Widespread panic, confusion and concern had gripped Indians in the US on H-1B visas in the hours after Trump’s order to impose the fee, with many cancelling travel plans at the last minute while waiting to board flights to the homeland and several others already in India scrambling to return.
