Bizarre rumours about US President Donald Trump’s death, which took social media by storm, were finally put to rest after he was pictured teeing off at his Virginia golf club.

Wearing a white polo shirt, his red MAGA hat, and black pants, Trump appeared at ease and unconcerned by the rumors circulating about him. He was pictured with his granddaughter, Kai Trump, getting into a vehicle on the south lawn of the White House.

Daily Caller White House correspondent Reagan Reese also dismissed Trump’s death rumours, saying on X, “I wake up to see people freaking out that Trump’s sick or dead or something because he hasn’t been seen in a few days. I was with the president yesterday afternoon. I interviewed him for an hour.”

The White House press pool also verified the sighting, pointing out that Trump departed in his motorcade early on Saturday morning before making his way to the links.

Speculations flooded social media worldwide over Trump’s whereabouts after he hadn’t been seen in public for quite a while. Later, rumours of his death spread widely on the internet, with hashtags such as #whereistrump trending across the United States. Thousands of posts declared “TRUMP IS DEAD” or “TRUMP DIED”.

As of 9:15 a.m. ET on Saturday, ‘#whereistrump’ was the sixth most popular trending topic on X in the United States. Some 158,000 X posts including the phrase ‘TRUMP IS DEAD’ and 42,000 stating ‘TRUMP DIED’ had been made as of 7:48 a.m. ET. on Saturday, according to the platform’s analytics.

The surge in speculation followed an interview Vice President JD Vance gave to USA Today on August 27.

Asked if he was prepared to assume the presidency in case of a “terrible tragedy”, Vance reassured that Donald Trump, now 79, was “in good shape” and “the last person making phone calls at night, and the first in the morning.”

Still, he acknowledged that unforeseen events can never be ruled out.

“Yes, terrible tragedies happen,” Vance said. “But I feel very confident the president of the United States is in good shape, is going to serve out the remainder of his term and do great things for the American people. And if, God forbid, there’s a terrible tragedy, I can’t think of better on-the-job training than what I’ve gotten over the last 200 days.”

However, on Saturday morning, Trump was finally spotted, debunking all his false death rumors.

Trump’s last major appearance was on August 26, when he chaired a televised cabinet meeting. Before that, he was spotted on August 24 golfing in Virginia alongside former MLB pitcher Roger Clemens.
