A Malaysian doctor, Wong Lu Yang, found himself at the centre of controversy after a viral video alleged he was caught cheating with a woman inside his BMW. As the clip was widely shared on social media, Wong Lu Yang shared a tearful apology video on Facebook, admitting his “mistake” and expressing regret, particularly towards his wife.

Wong Lu Yang said he had sought forgiveness from his wife, adding he was grateful she allowed him to return home despite the humiliation. He also revealed that his family had previously faced blackmail attempts over the matter before the video began circulating online.

“The issue caused my wife pain again when the video began spreading,” he said.

In a separate statement, Wong Lu Yang reported that he and his family had become targets of online harassment and cyberbullying. He claimed personal information, including photos and phone numbers, had been shared without consent.

“I have lodged a police report, and I reserve my legal right to take action under Malaysian law against those who misuse my personal data, post defamatory content, or harass my family,” Wong Lu Yang posted on Facebook.

Coldplay Kiss Cam Row

The scandal comes against the backdrop of a cheating scandal at Coldplay concert when the stadium’s “kiss cam” showed two high-level executives from Astronomer- CEO Andy Byron and HR chief Kristin Cabot- in an embrace. When they realized they were on the big screen, they awkwardly tried to hide but the moment quickly went viral. Both were married to other people at the time.

Astronomer placed both executives on leave. Later, Byron resigned as CEO and Cabot remained employed. Coldplay frontman Chris Martin joked about the scandal at another show while brands like Ryanair and GlobeAir capitalised on it with cheeky viral marketing campaigns.
