US President Donald Trump on Sunday reacted to the shooting at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in Grand Blanc, Michigan, calling it yet another targeted attack on Christians in America, while expressing condolences for the victims.

One person was dead, and at least nine people were injured at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Michigan, United States, after an unidentified man opened fire on people at the site. Police say the shooter intentionally started a fire at the church, before he was shot dead by officers.

“I have been briefed on the horrendous shooting that took place at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in Grand Blanc, Michigan. The FBI was immediately on scene, and will be leading the Federal Investigation, and providing full support to State and Local Officials,” Trump said on his Truth Social platform.

“The suspect is dead, but there is still a lot to learn. This appears to be yet another targeted attack on Christians in the United States of America. The Trump Administration will keep the Public posted, as we always do. In the meantime, PRAY for the victims, and their families. THIS EPIDEMIC OF VIOLENCE IN OUR COUNTRY MUST END, IMMEDIATELY!” he added.

Authorities say the shooter rammed their vehicle through the front of the church during a large service and began shooting, CNN reported. Officers believe they will find additional victims when it is safe to enter the building.

Grand Blanc Township Police Chief William Renye said the suspect was a male, 40 years old, from Burton, Michigan, who drove his vehicle through the front doors of the church. “He then exited his vehicle, firing several rounds at individuals within the church,” he added.
