Russian President Vladimir Putin said the conflict in Ukraine “would never have started” if Donald Trump had been the US President in 2022, during their first in-person meeting in five years held in Alaska.

Putin backed Trump’s claim that his presence could have stopped the conflict from starting, saying, “I can confirm that.”
