An Indian-origin software engineer was found dead at Microsoft’s Silicon Valley office on August 20. The cause of death remains unknown, and a probe was underway.

An Indian-origin software engineer was found dead at the office of Microsoft Corp. in Silicon Valley on August 20. According to a report with Bloomberg, the deceased was identified as 35-year-old Pratik Pandey.

Pratik had arrived at his office on the evening of August 19 and was found dead the following morning, the report claimed, quoting a family member who spoke with Microsoft.

He was known to frequently work late into the night, as per the report.

The cause of his death was still not known, and an investigation into the case had been launched.

Pandey worked on Microsoft’s Fabric product, which is used to analyse data and competes with companies like Snowflake Inc. He reported up through cloud and AI chief Scott Guthrie, an executive vice president, per the report.

Before joining Microsoft in 2020, Pandey worked stints at companies including Walmart Inc. and Apple Inc., his LinkedIn profile mentions.

He was an alumnus of San Jose State University.
