Vaishno Devi Landslide: At least five pilgrims died in a landslide near Inderprastha Bhojnalaya at Ardhkuwari on the Vaishno Devi route.

Vaishno Devi Landslide: At least five pilgrims have died and several others were injured after a landslide struck near Inderprastha Bhojnalaya at Ardhkuwari on the Vaishno Devi route. The bodies have been shifted to Katra hospital while at least six pilgrims are reported to be in serious condition.

Rescue operations are underway with full deployment of manpower and machinery and the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board said it is closely monitoring and coordinating the relief effort.

Vaishno Devi Yatra Suspended

The Shrine Board said the Vaishno Devi Yatra has been temporarily suspended following heavy overnight rainfall in the region. A flood alert has also been sounded in several districts of Jammu as major rivers swell beyond danger levels. Authorities have urged pilgrims to strictly follow updates issued through official Shrine Board channels.

Red Alert, Heavy Rains Forecast

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Jammu and Kashmir, warning of further heavy rainfall and thunderstorms. Districts including Kathua, Samba, Doda, Jammu, Ramban and Kishtwar are on alert. The Chenab River is flowing above the danger mark, prompting the deployment of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams in vulnerable areas. Residents, especially those along riverbanks, have been advised to stay indoors and remain vigilant.
