A drama unfolded in the Rampur court premises on Friday afternoon when a woman thrashed her husband with slippers after he pronounced triple talaq. The incident was caught on video and circulated widely on social media. Meanwhile, the woman has also submitted a complaint at the SP office seeking an FIR against her husband and father-in-law.

Asiya, a resident of Bambura village in the Khajuria area of Rampur, married Ashid Ali of Dheemri village in 2018. The couple has two daughters. After marriage, Asiya alleged she was regularly beaten by her husband and in-laws. Fed up with the abuse, she began living with her children at her maternal home. About five months ago, she also filed a case in the family court seeking maintenance.

On Friday, Asiya arrived at court with her maternal aunt Reshma for a hearing in the case. Her husband and father-in-law also appeared for the hearing. After the proceedings, both parties came out of the courtroom. Asiya alleged that her husband and father-in-law hurled abuses at her and that her husband went on to pronounce triple talaq.

When she protested, the two men allegedly assaulted her. Angered, Asiya caught hold of her husband’s kurta and began beating him with slippers. The dramatic scene drew a crowd in the court premises, with several people recording the incident on their phones. Videos of the altercation were soon circulated on social media.

Bystanders eventually stepped in to separate the two sides. The matter has further escalated as Asiya has filed a formal complaint against her husband and father-in-law, seeking police action.
