Two persons from Bihar were killed, and one was injured after their motorcycle hit a divider on National Highway 133 in Jharkhand’s Godda district, police said on Monday.

The deceased were identified as Amit Kumar (25) and Mahendra Kumar (24), both hailed from Banka in Bihar.

According to a senior officer, the accident occurred in an area near Gorsanda under the Pathargama Police Station limits on Sunday evening when the two-wheeler dashed against the divider, news agency PTI reported.

“Three people were travelling on a motorcycle when the two-wheeler hit the divider. All three were sent to Sadar Hospital, where two of them died,” PTI quoted Pathargama Police Station officer-in-charge Manohar as saying.

Rishi Kumar, who was injured in the accident, was referred to Mayaganj Hospital in Bihar’s Bhagalpur, he said.

“No FIR has been registered so far, and we have seized the motorcycle,” the officer added.

In another incident, two persons sustained injuries after a speeding car hit another on the Coastal Road here on Sunday evening while trying to overtake, officials said.

The incident occurred when a Kia, driven by Vinod Kumar Upadhyay (53) and its owner, Tajuddin, was going towards Bandra from Marine Drive, an official said.

The driver of a Maruti Swift tried to overtake the Kia but ended up hitting it, the official said. Upadhyay and Alok Mishra, an occupant of the Swift, suffered non-serious injuries, the official said, adding that the cars were removed from the Coastal Road by the traffic police.
