In a major tragedy, three workers from Tamil Nadu were killed while cleaning a waste tank in Kerala’s Idukki. Authorities have deployed machinery to recover the bodies from the tank. The tragedy hit when they were attempting to clean the waste tank of the Orange Hotel in Kattappana.
The deceased workers have been identified as Jayaraman from Cumbum, and Sundara Pandian and Michael, both from Gudalur.
As per a report from PTI, the workers got stuck inside the waste tank, and a lack of oxygen is expected to be the reason behind their tragic end. One worker first entered the manhole of the waste pit near a stream and got trapped. In an attempt to rescue him, the other two followed, but all three were stuck inside.

9 Workers Die In Tamil Nadu
In another tragic case reported from Tamil Nadu, 9 workers died after the collapse of a steel arch at the Ennore Thermal Power construction site. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday expressed condolences over the incident.
The PM also announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh for the next of kin of each deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister’s Office wrote, “Saddened by the mishap due to the collapse of a building in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. My thoughts are with the affected people and their families in this difficult hour. Praying for the speedy recovery of the injured. An ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000.”
